Background:

 

To assist the MD/ Publishing Director (PD) / Sales Director (SD) in the strategic development and timely and cost-effective implementation of medical communications business

 

Strategic

To determine, with the MD/SD/PD the strategic direction leading to development and  implementation of long term commercial strategies

To lead with the MD/PDSD the development of medical communications capabilities

 

Operational

Preparing and presenting pitches to clients to win new business

To build relationships with pharmaceutical and other clients at the most senior level

To liaise with clients and company stake holders, account management, sales and medical writing teams, over the development of med comms projects, including travel to clients and events

To oversee the pricing of all medical communications proposals

To oversee the management of all medical communications projects to schedule, budget & client satisfaction

To oversee compliance with best practice guidelines across the organization

 

Budgetary

To achieve, or exceed, the medical communications budgeted annual sales and profitability target

To advise and assist the PD in protecting the gross margin of all Medical Communications projects

 

Skills and experience

Healthcare agency experience is essential – lead generation, project management and sales

Solid academic background with a higher life science degree (preferably PhD)

Deep knowledge and understanding medical/science audiences, and pharmaceutical industry
Experience working across a broad range of therapy areas

Strong business focus and commercial understanding

Proven experience in identifying and generating new clients and projects

Experience in preparing and pitching client

Ability to handle complex multiple tasks simultaneously

First class networking, communication, presentation and negotiation skills
