About us:
Momentum Data is a pioneering data analytics and research company set up in 2017. We provide a bespoke end-to-end research package inclusive of study design, conduct, reporting, and publication of key messages. Our experienced UK-based team includes academic doctors, epidemiologists, and statisticians, working together to deliver high-quality research with maximum clinical impact.

About the role:
We are looking for a Medical Writer to provide support for a wide range of research studies and literature reviews across multiple diseases, aiming to improve the lives and outcomes of people living with chronic conditions. The successful candidate will form part of a close team who lead multiple observational epidemiological research projects from inception to publication, in collaboration with academic and clinical disease experts. Significant medical writing experience with a clinical epidemiology and primary care focus is preferred. We also welcome applications from less experienced writers who can demonstrate an aptitude for rapid learning, self-motivation, and especially from those with a clinical background.

This role can be done completely remotely, but the company is based in Exeter. This position is currently a part-time post, but there may be an opportunity for this role to progress to a full-time post in the future.

Key responsibilities & duties:
  • Writing up observational research studies in accordance with research protocols for peer-reviewed journals
  • Medical literature searching using systematic methodology; summarising literature searches
  • Writing support for study protocols
  • Writing comprehensive reviews of medical topics for peer reviewed publications
  • Writing abstracts, scientific posters, presentation slides for medical conferences
  • Other opportunities: supporting the development of studies by reviewing clinical codelists and published literature on case definitions, and study design techniques
Candidate requirements:
  • Medical, pharmaceutical or biomedical degree or equivalent (required)
  • A track record of writing for peer reviewed publications (required)
  • Literature searching experience (required)
  • Understanding of epidemiological study design and research methods (required)
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines (required)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present information clearly (required)
  • Experience writing up observational clinical epidemiological studies (desirable)
  • Experience in preparing materials for conference presentations (desirable)
  • Clinical experience in any form (desirable)
